Just-In-Time, JIT, teaching assumes that faculty obtain student feedback on an assignment a few hours before class or lab and then use this feedback to begin a discussion. Answers are collected in a database, read by the instructor and possibly even graded before the beginning of class or laboratory. The instructor can then adjust the lesson's emphasis to respond to the students' demonstrated knowledge. The following JIT problems were assigned spring 1998 in Physics 120, an algebra-based physics course, at Davidson College.
