Welcome to the introductory physics laboratory. The purpose of today's laboratory is to familiarize you with the World Wide Web and some of the software that you will use in Physics 120/130 and 220/230. In particular you will learn how to access a spreadsheet, Microsoft Excel, in order to record and plot data. You will also be introduced to small interactive physics exercises, called Physlets, that run inside an Internet Explorer or Netscape browser.
First click on the Excel hyperlink on the outline on the left. This resource is always available on the web and also as an appendix to the lab manual. Now click the Physlets link to learn about taking data in a Physlet.
Be sure and read next week's laboratory and do the prelabs before you come to class next week.
