JCApp and QEDApp allow the user to examine many of the basic differences between the semiclassical and quantized models of atom--field interactions. This section will examine spontaneous emission, the differences between the Jaynes--Cummings model and the fully quantized model, and the effect of various photon statistics on an atom in its upper state.
