RC Applet: Example 1

An RC circuit uses a capacitor and resistor connected to an AC source as shown above.  The voltages across the resistor and capacitor not seem to equal the source voltage, 10 V, at 300 Hz. That is, Vr + Vc =Vs does not seem to be true in this circuit.  Does this violate Kirchhoff's loop rule for voltage?  The graph shows the voltage across each component as a function of time.   You can vary t+he source frequency using the slider.  Start.
