Three Interacting Wells
These three wells have the same characteristics (depth, width, separation) as
the previous two-well sections.
Section 3 Exercises:
- Does the relation between the parity and the quantum number n still hold?
- How are the levels grouped in this situation?
- Compare the energy level of
the n=5 level in this section to the n=3 level in Section 1. Compare the average of the energies of the levels in the middle set
(n=4,5,6) to the n=3 level in Section 1.
- Using your answers to#2 and #3, make a general statement as to the nature of the
grouping and splitting of levels as more equivalent wells are introduced.
