Optics Physlet-Based Curriculum

These examples of curricular material appear in Section 9.9. Follow a link on the left to go to the individual Physlet problems found in that section. Below is a brief description of each animation.

Chapter Problems:

9.9.1: A beam of parallel rays propagating to the right is refracted upon entering and leaving another medium. Both the position of the source and the angle of the source can be adjusted by click-dragging the circular hotspots. 

9.9.2: A point source emits a cone of light that eventually strikes a mirror. The position of the source may be adjusted using the mouse.

9.9.3:  A point source emits a cone of light before it passes through two lenses. The position of the source may be adjusted using the mouse.
9.9.4: A ripple tank wave pattern is created and displayed whenever the play button is pressed.  The mouse can be used to make coordinate measurements.
